Ten people were killed and three other victims were critically injured in several locations throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and along Interstate 95 in Virginia. It was later learned that the rampage was perpetrated by one man, John Allen Muhammad, and one minor, Lee Boyd Malvo. Malvo was an illegal alien from Jamaica. In September 2003, Muhammad was sentenced to death. One month later, Malvo was sentenced to six consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. On November 10, 2009, Muhammad was executed by lethal injection. Mainstream media such as CNN and CBS made no mention of black nationalism, terrorism, radicalized religion, or his interests in Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden.

Rarely reported was that a number of pieces of evidence suggested Malvo and Muhammad were motivated by an affinity for Islamicist Jihad rather than the cover story to kill his ex-wife. His rants and drawings included Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden. Born John Allen Williams on Dec. 31, 1960 (he changed his surname in October 2001), Muhammad is a muslim convert U.S. Army veteran of the Gulf War, who became a member of Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam and supported black separatism. He was part of the security group at Farrakhan's October 1995 Million Man March in Washington, DC.

On February 16, 2002, Keenya Cook was shot and killed at her front door of her home in Tacoma, Washington. Several other deaths and injuries followed in several other states from March to August 2002. Malvo has admitted killing Keenya Cook

On March 19, Jerry Ray Taylor was shot and killed in Tuscon. Police say Malvo confessed to killing Arizona golfer - USA USA Today Oct 27, 2006 responsible for the 2002 killing of a 60-year-old man on a Tucson golf course, Tucson authorities said Friday. Malvo spoke to police in Maryland for two hours Thursday after he received immunity from prosecution, Tucson Capt. Bill Richards said. Malvo said the shooting took place while he and Muhammad were in the area visiting Muhammad's older sister, Richards said. Taylor, 60, died from a single gunshot fired from long range as he practiced chip shots at the golf course. The case had never been conclusively tied to Muhammad and Malvo. Jimenez said Malvo lay in the bushes and shot Taylor as he was retrieving a golf ball. According to Malvo, the two decided to shoot someone on the golf course after conducting surveillance in the desert, Jimenez said.

May 2002 Muhammed and Malvo also were linked to a shooting last spring at a Tacoma synagogue, but no one was injured in that incident

On August 1, 2002, John Gaeta was changing a tire at a parking lot in Hammond, Louisiana and was shot in the neck by Malvo.[2] The bullet exited through Gaeta's back, and he pretended to be dead while Malvo stole his wallet. Gaeta ran to a service station after the shooter left and discovered that he was bleeding; he went to a hospital and was released within an hour. On March 1, 2010, he received a letter of apology from Malvo.[3]

On September 5, 2002, at 10:30 p.m., Paul LaRuffa, a 55-year-old pizzeria owner, was shot six times at close range while locking up his Italian restaurant inClinton, Maryland. LaRuffa survived the shooting, and his laptop computer was found in John Allen Muhammad's car when he and Malvo were arrested.[4]

On September 21, 2002, at 12:15 a.m., 41-year-old Million A. Woldemariam was fatally shot in the head and back with a .22-caliber pistol in Atlanta, Georgia. Woldemariam was helping the owner of a Sammy's Package Store close up for the night when the shooting occurred.[5]

Nineteen hours later on the same day, Claudine Parker,[6] a liquor store clerk in Montgomery, Alabama, was shot and killed during a robbery. Her co-worker, Kellie Adams, was injured but survived. Evidence found at the crime scene eventually tied this killing to the Beltway attacks and allowed authorities to identify Muhammad and Malvo as suspects,[7] although this connection was not made until October 17. September 21, 2002 Montgomery, Alabama A caller to the tip line, believed to be the sniper, claimed he had committed a robbery and slaying in the South.

On September 23, 2002, at 6:30 p.m., 45-year-old Hong Im Ballenger was shot in the head and killed with a Bushmaster rifle in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. * There are connections between the Washington area sniper shootings and a Sept. 21 shooting there, when two women were shot, one fatally, at an ABC liquor store.  * A composite picture of the assailant in the Alabama shootings had "very good similarities" to Lee Malvo, investigators said. * The gun used in Alabama was the same as the one used in the Washington area shootings.

On October 3, 2002, police in Washington, D.C. stopped the Caprice for a "minor traffic infraction", two hours prior to the shooting of Pascal Charlot, after which witnesses reported seeing a Caprice near the scene.

On October 8, 2002, Baltimore Police Department investigated a dark blue Chevrolet Caprice with a person sleeping inside parked near the Jones Falls Expressway at 28th St. in Baltimore. The officers were concerned that the driver's license was from Washington state and the vehicle tag was from New Jersey. Although the vehicle was suspicious enough for them to investigate, and it fit the description of a vehicle associated with the shooting in Washington, D.C. five days earlier, the officers did not question the occupants extensively, nor did they search the vehicle.

incident came to a close at 3:15AM on October 24, 2002, when Muhammad and Malvo were found sleeping in their car, a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice (which had been dismissed earlier in the investigation), at a rest stop off of Interstate 70 near Myersville, Maryland, and arrested on federal weapons charges. Police were tipped off by Whitney Donahue, who noticed the parked car.

Since being arrested Oct. 24, 2002 in the sniper cases, Muhammad and Malvo have been charged in four earlier shootings and described by police as strong suspects in five others.

Al-Fuqra Holy Warriors of Terrorism Introduction For over ten years, a secretive Black Muslim sect in the United States and Canada has sought to carry out a self-declared policy of "jihad," or holy war, by taking violent action against its perceived enemies, generally other minorities or other Muslims with whom they disagree. The sect, known as Al-Fuqra, has been linked by law enforcement officials to terrorist violence in Colorado, Arizona, Pennsylvania, the Pacific-northwest and Canada. Most recently, attention has been focused on the group in connection with a plot to bomb public sites in New York, including the United Nations,...

Sniper suspect John Muhammad fits the profile of a disaffected outcast who becomes increasingly radicalized under the influence of Islamism, say terrorism analysts and investigators, who suspect he is connected with the radical Islamist group, al-Fuqra. According to Christian M. Weber, contributing editor for Soldiers for the Truth, an organization headed by Col. David Hackworth, Muhammad seems to follow the model of John Walker Lindh, Richard Reid and Jose Padilla, men exposed to Islamism who become disenchanted with the movement's pace and progress and who take the road to jihad. Beltway snipers exposed as Muslim terrorists

www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/14830
Sep 17, 2009 – Beltway snipers exposed as Muslim terrorists ... This became clear when John Allen Muhammad persisted in making such statements as, ...
During the days and weeks that followed, the national media made no mention of “Islam,” “Muslim,” or “terrorism.” They rather presented the Muhammad as “an ex-soldier,” “a former, Army combat engineer,” and “a Gulf War veteran who was an expert Army marksman,” and Malvo, an illegal alien from Jamaica, as either as a misguided youth or clueless dupe.
Such portraits were in keeping with the following dictate from Nihad Awad, Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). “Police reports indicate the suspects acted alone, based on their own motivations. There is no indication that this case is related to Islam or Muslims. We therefore ask journalists and media commentators to avoid speculation based on stereotyping or prejudice. The American Muslim community should not be held accountable for the alleged criminal actions of what appear to be troubled and deranged individuals.”

"Police reports indicate the suspects acted alone, based on their own motivations. There is no indication that this case is related to Islam or Muslims. *Motive

    • (Wikipedia) Investigators and the prosecution suggested during pre-trial motions that Muhammad intended to kill his ex-wife Mildred, who had estranged him from his children. According to this theory, the other shootings were intended to cover up the motive for the crime, since Muhammad believed that the police would not focus on an estranged ex-husband as a suspect if she looked like a random victim of a serial killer. Muhammad frequented the neighborhood where she lived during the attacks, and some of the incidents occurred nearby. Additionally, he had earlier made threats against her. Mildred herself made the claim that she was his intended target. However, Judge LeRoy Millette, Jr. prevented prosecutors from presenting that theory during the trial, saying that a link had not been firmly established.
    • While imprisoned, Malvo wrote a number of erratic diatribes about what he termed "jihad" against the United States.[26] "I have been accused on my mission. Allah knows I'm gonna suffer now", he wrote.[26] Because his rants and drawings featured not only such figures as Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, but also characters from the film series The Matrix, these musings were dismissed as immaterial.[26] Some investigators reportedly said they had all but eliminated terrorist ties or political ideologies as a motive.[27][28][29] Nonetheless, in at least one of the ensuing murder trials, a Virginia court found Muhammad guilty of killing "pursuant to the direction or order" of terrorism.[30]
A series of trial exhibits suggested Malvo and Muhammad were motivated by an affinity for Islamicist Jihad.[31]
      • Exhibit 65-006: A self-portrait of Malvo in the cross hairs of a gun scope shouting, "ALLAH AKBAR!" The word "SALAAM" scrawled vertically. A lyric from Bob Marley's Natural Mystic "Many more will have to suffer. Many more will have to die. Don't ask me why."
      • Exhibit 65-016: A portrait of Saddam Hussein with the words "INSHALLAH" and "The Protector," surrounded by rockets labeled "chem" and "nuk".
      • Exhibit 65-043: Father and son portrait of Malvo and Muhammad. "We will kill them all. Jihad."
      • Exhibit 65-056: A self-portrait of Malvo as sniper, lying in wait, with his rifle. "JIHAD" written in bold letters.
      • Exhibit 65-067: A suicide bomber labeled "Hamas" walking into a McDonald's restaurant. Another drawing of the Twin Towers burning captioned: "85 percent chance Zionists did this." More scrawls: "ALLAH AKBAR," "JIHAD" and "Islam will explode."
      • Exhibit 65-103: A lion accompanies chapter and verse from the Koran (Sura 2:190): "Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you and slay them wherever ye catch them."
      • Exhibit 65-109: Portrait of Osama bin Laden, captioned "Servant of Allah."
      • Exhibit 65-117: The White House drawn in crosshairs, surrounded by missiles, with a warning: "Sep. 11 we will ensure will look like a picnic to you" and "you will bleed to death little by little."
      • Exhibit 65-101: Malvo's thought for the day: "Islam the only true guidance, the way of peace."
At the 2006 trial of Muhammad, Malvo testified that the aim of the killing spree was to kidnap children for the purpose of extorting money from the government and to "set up a camp to train children how to terrorize cities",[32] with the ultimate goal being to "shut things down" across the United States.[33]
cbs: The motive for the shootings in the nation's capital region remains murky. Malvo said Muhammad wanted to use the plot to extort $10 million from the government to set up a camp in Canada where homeless children would be trained as terrorists. But
    • cbs:  Muhammad has never testified or explained why he directed the attacks that terrorized
    • cbs: Muhammad's ex-wife has said she believes the attacks were a smoke screen for his plan to kill her and regain custody of their three children.
