Update: Kenya Mall Attack, Death Toll 68, Calls In Israeli Commandos

September 21, 2013 Somalia based Al Shabab gunmen led by a woman fire AK-47s into the air and at people at Nigeria's most modern mall. They announced that they would only attack non-Muslims, but shot at some who did not adequately pass their tests of Koranic knowledge. Compared to previous shopping mall attacks in Europe and North America which typically had only one lone gunman with no obvious motive and only occasionally involved a gunman with Islamic connections, these people and Al Shabab boldly proclaimed their killing mission and the terrorist organization (which probably indicates they are hiding that somebody even worse is really behind it) 24 hours and 66 deaths later, they were still terrorizing the mall.

CNN: Three of the attackers at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, are from the United States, according to sources within the terror group Al-Shabaab.

The Americans are among nine people listed on a since-shuttered Twitter account, the sources said. Other names include two individuals from Somalia and one each from Canada, Finland, Kenya and the United Kingdom, according to the list. They range in age from 20 to 27 years old.

Two of the Americans are from Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, and the other is from Kansas City, Missouri, according to the list.

Somali group al-Shabaab confirmed to Channel 4 News directly that they were behind the attack. They also posted the following message on their Twitter feed on Saturday evening. The group said it had killed "over 100" inside the shopping centre, and said the attack was "retributive justice".

It later posted on Twitter that only "kuffar", ie. non-Muslims, were targeted in the attack, and that Muslims had been "escorted out".
Kenyan security forces have arrested one of the gunmen, the Kenyan Presidency said on Twitter, whilst several other assailants are said to be pinned down.
The arrested gunman died from bullet wounds, Kenya's presidency says.

Death count: France said two of its citizens were killed, and Canada said two Canadians died, including a 29-year-old diplomat. A Chinese woman was also killed, China's official news agency said. US Secretary of State John Kerry, who offered assistance to Kenya in the incident, said several US citizens had been hurt and the wife of a US diplomat working for the US Agency for International Development was killed.
