The victim was shot once in the arm in a nearby wooded area, then stumbled to the street for help, according to police. Robbery suspected, but if they didn't take or ask for anything it was just an unprovoked attack with "only one obvious motive"

Mr. Rosales was charged with assault, reckless endangerment, acting in a manner injurious to a child and criminal possession of a weapon, the police said. The girl’s mother, Jessica Aguilar, 24, was charged with reckless endangerment and acting in a manner injurious to a child. Alternate theory: cleaning a loaded gun is not an accident.
